ABSEIL LEADER - PACI QUALIFICATION COURSE

ABSEILING

About the Abseil Leader qualification course

Abseil Leader is a four to five day program of instruction & assessment that is in line with Certificate 4 level national accreditation.  The program is designed to be the most comprehensive of it's type (i.e. we have added in a lot of technical content not specified, or required, by the Outdoor Recreation Training Package SRO 03) covering anchors & rigging, belaying & retrieval, self and team rescue, single & multi pitch abseiling and risk management. Students also learn how to implement and monitor OH&S procedures in consideration of identified hazards and risks in the workplace.

The Abseil Leader qualification course is designed for recreational abseilers & climbers, volunteer rescue personnel, serving military roping leaders, outdoor education leaders, school teachers, rope access specialists etc. We have endeavoured to put together a program which both addresses national training package competencies as well as up to the minute, practical skills for the active rope professional - no matter what your field of expertise or work environment. During the course we look at the following areas in detail: roping equipment (selection, care & maintenance), anchors & anchors systems, pitch rigging, belays and release systems, dealing with non routine situations, risk assessments for OHS purposes, facilitating group roping activities, vertical mobility, self and partner rescue and a host of other related subjects.
