HEIGHT SAFETY

 

About the HS1 Safety Harness & Static Line course.

The HS1 course meets industry demands for a more thorough short course dealing with safety harnesses & temporary static lines. Conducted in accordance with AS/NZS 1891.1 Safety Belts and Harnesses, AS/NZS 1891.4 Industrial fall-arrest systems and devices - Selection, use & maintenance, AS/NZS 1891.2 Horizontal Lifeline & Rail Systems, Work Cover Code of Practice: Safety Line Systems and AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management. This three quarter day course is designed to cover software and hardware PPE selection, maintenance & storage, operator personal inspections and periodic inspections as well as correct fitting for work applications. We then go into fall arrest systems and anchorages as well as the use of temporary static lines. An awareness level seminar on Harness Hang Syndrome (CARP) is also conducted.

 

The HS1 course identifies the following unit:

Select, use and maintain equipment for working at height

 

The following endorsements are assessed:

Install an anchor to 15kN in accordance with AS/NZS 1891

Install & use a temporary static line (to AS/NZS 1891)

Install & use a personal fall arrest system.

 

 

The units are delivered contextually within a framework of industrial fall protection systems.

Students receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment on successful completion of the training & assessment.

 

Duration

Site specific or multi-site: .75 day (~6 contact hours)

Minimum number of six students per course. The course fee covers training resources, all equipment, assessment, provision of Statements of Attainment.

 

Enrolment

Must be at least 17 years of age

Speak, read and understand the English language (unless accompanied by a skilled translator)

Fit and healthy for working at height

 

Location

On-the-job or at a designated SAR training facility.

 

Equipment

Existing personal (or workplace) PPE should be used for consistency, however SAR will supply the latest in height safety gear and PPE (personal protective equipment).
